Home Reading. Art for Heart’s Sake

 Art for Heart’s Sake
Read the text and answer the  questions and write your opinion.

The text is about a rich man who has had some fails and unsuccessful operations during his life. That’s why he has suffered his heart attack and needs a doctor’s care. The doctor wants to help him to forget all the fails and to start a new life. The doctor advises him to practice with art, to paint some pictures. They invite a young boy to teach the man how to draw. Some times later the man draws a picture, which is very horrible. He tells everyone that he wants to take part in a competition, but no one likes that idea. But the man does everything to take part in that competition and wins 1000$. That is a surprise for everyone. But then the man tells that he has bought that gallery and that’s why he has won in that competition. I think that the main idea of this text is that the man doesn’t want to change his life, he likes to achieve everything with money. I reply to the letters

… Summer is coming and I want to look my best: healthy, energetic and physically fit. So I’m trying to eat plain, simply cooked natural food, have enough sleep at night and I have recently joined our local fitness club. Do you do anything special to stay healthy? What makes people healthy and strong? What do you think about a healthy lifestyle?

By the way, I’m going to spend a month at the seaside this summer…

Yerevan, Armenia

Dear Nancy
Thank you for your letter. I am glad to hear from you, Sorry for not writing for so long. I was busy with my school projects. As for your questions.Being in a healthy lifestyle is a really good idea. I think it will help you feel brighter, lighter and younger. Going to a fitness club is also a good idea. I do a lot of exercises every day at home to stay healthy. But I’ve never kept a diet because I love to eat deliciously. I also love to eat fast food. I believe that purposefulness, willpower, and energy help one to be healthy, strong, and beautiful. A healthy lifestyle is the best thing ever. If you can eat only healthy food it is mean that you are the happiest person in the world.
Enjoy your holidays
Write me back soon.Best wishes,
Meline

Surviving in a Desert

A desert is defined as a place that gets less than 250 mm of rain each year. It differs sharply from the climate of a rain forest, which can receive up to 10,000 mm of rain annually.

Arid desert lands cover about one third of the earth’s surface. Most deserts are covered with sand, which is often in the form of hills called sand dunes. There are also usually a lot of rocky areas. This combination of sand and rock means that the soil is not very fertile. Even though the desert environment is very dry and hot, some living things are able to do well in this setting. Many plants have changed and developed in ways that help them to live in the desert.
These changes have become apparent in a number of ways. Some plants are able to grow very quickly whenever it rains. They turn green and produce flowers within just a few days. Other desert plants simply stop growing in very dry weather. They appear to be dead, but when the rain returns, they come back to life and begin growing again.
Desert animals have also developed many characteristics that help them to survive in arid environment. Camels can go for a very long time without drinking. Other animals, such as snakes and rats, find cool places to sleep during the day and come out only at night. The extremely long ears of desert rabbits help them to better distribute their body heat and stay cool . Changes like these have allowed some animals and plants to grow and develop successfully in a very challenging ecological system: the desert.

There are countless books in the world, and whoever you are, whatever you’re feeling, there is definitely a book out there, just waiting for you to discover it.

1. which is often in the form of hills called sand dunes
2. whenever it rains
3. to find water as far as 25 metres away
4. which can receive up to 10,000 mm of rain annually
5. to better distribute their body heat and stay cool
6. even though the desert environment is very dry and hot
7. that help them to live in the desert

My attitude about “My life without money”

This is a book about a woman who lives her life without money. That woman shows us that we can live without money, but I think that it will be very boring and uninteresting life. You can’t do everything you want. You can’t let you enjoy life. You can’t go to the theatre, restaurant, to spend time with your friends and family. That’s why it will be boring life without any interesting moments. For example I have never done the experience like this. I love my life for interesting and unforgettable moments.

Money makes the world go around

Some people say that “money makes the world go around.” Do you agree? Why or why not?
Unfortunately, I agree, because people are thinking about making more money. People become greedy for money and sometimes do not see what is happening around them. People have become less in touch with their families, relatives, and friends.

Can money bring happiness?
I think not. If a person is happy, loved, successful, he is already rich. Money never brings happiness. Actually happiness brings money.

If someone gave you a million dollars, what would you do with it?
I would first use it for charity. I would help the orphanage kids, old people who really need help. I would fulfill one of my family dreams. I would travel around the world with my family.

To work for money or pleasure.
Of course for pleasure. Everybody must love his job and do it with pleasure.

What qualities must a person have to make BIG money?
First of all, the person must be diligent and purposeful. If he is such a person, he will make as much money as he wants. We can all earn a lot of money by doing our favorite work. The important thing is we should never give up.
