Witches’ Loaves by O. Henry

Witches’ Loaves by O. Henry

Questions
1.Could you tell  why O Henry called his story ” Witches’ Loaves.?

I think because at the end of the story the man called Miss Martha a witch. By saying that he meant that her bread with butter just destroyed his 3 months work. He got really mad and called her a witch. I think that’s why he called his story “Witch’s loaves”.

2.In the story ”Witches’ Loaves”, Miss Martha assumes that the man who buys stale bread is artist.

Will happen the same thing that happened in this story.

Write your opinion about this story.

It was a story about a woman who was making bread and many many other delicious things and a man who was an artist. The man was buying only a stale bread all the time, so once Miss Martha decided to put into that stale bread a little bit butter. She thought that she did kind thing but it turned out that artist was using stale bread for his work and that butter in the stale bread just ruined his 3 months work. I think that this story shows us that not every time our perceived act of kindness is nor received as such and sometimes we need to ask people if they need our help and only after that we can help them by doing kind things.

How I’m going to celebrate New Year

This year was very hard for everyone. Virus, war. We felt too much pain and anxiety. But I think that we must start live, we must remember how it was without this problems. I think that not celebrating New Year is not right. I don’t think that we must go to parties, celebrate it in restaurants or cafes. We can just celebrate it with our families. And I don’t think that we must forget about what happened in the past months. We must respect all the soldiers who died for us and for our peace, we must respect their families, because it is so hard for them. That’s why we should not celebrate a rich, glorious and luxurious New Year, but simply be with our families on that day.
